SEO Take Great Part to making a Website Or Blog. People creating Website,Blog without SEO theres site is not a great stuff. If You have to know about how to Optimize Yours Site URL's in the search engines now SEO is so important to keep in mind for all aspects of your site , from its body copy to its site map. Writing descriptive URLs is a great way to accomplish two things : making it easier for users to navigate your site , and making it easier to rank for the keywords you’re focusing on.Be Descriptive and Concise :
Lets now assume you run a site about go karting in Santa Fe , and the Santa Fe Go-Kart Grand Prix is coming up in June . Naturally you will want to cover this in detail on your site, with regularly updated news, interviews with racers, or maybe a historical piece on the grand traditions of the Santa Fe Go-Kart Grand Prix itself. You could build a URL about general Santa Fe Go-Kart Grand Prix news like this:
http://www.your-site.com/news/06-2012...
But this doesnt tell your's visitors much about what the page is . To make things worse, this kind of URL structure is worthless for search engines. You’ve only used one keyword , “news,” followed by a date. I’m using “news” as a keyword very loosely here, because it doesn’t have any other keywords near it to clue users and search engines in on what kind of news the page contains. We can assume www.yours-site.com is something go-kart related , which is good for SEO, but this example URL could be doing quite a bit more for you.
For example, what if you wrote the URL like so:
http://www.your-site.com/go-kart-news/santa-fe-grand-prix
Now , Take a look at the keywords we are using here. Not only are visitors to your site going to have a better idea of where they are on your sit e, but search engines love descriptive site mapping . This example is using keywords in a smart ways : you aren’t overloading your URL structure with a ton of keywords and it is written in a logical way that describes what the topic and subtopic are about. Your site is about go-karting in Santa Fe, and the key terms used in this URL are much more valuable for SEO than a simple “news” topic with a date attached to the sub-topic.
Using key terms in your URL is a great SEO practice, but it is important not to go overboard. Try to keep your descriptions short and to the point. It’s better to write URLs in a way that acts as a map to information rather than stuffed full of keywords and search term variants. I wont say every URL needs to be under X amount of characters, but a good URL shouldnt be full of unrelated key words and phrases.
Things to Avoid When Writing URLs :
You are using your URLs for site mapping and SEO off, so its also important not to load your descriptive URLs with “stop words.” Stop words are words that search engines consider insignificant or too common to be a worthwhile part of a search string . For ex., if you were to search for “where to go-kart in santa fe” search engines will ignore “where”, “to,” and “in.” You’re better off using your URLs for more unique, more valuable terms, like “go-kart” and “Santa Fe.” A search for “go-kart santa fe” will return very similar results to “where to go-kart in santa fe.” These are the words that directly relate to your website, and that’s what you need to focus on when writing URL's.
